Why do plastics end up in our oceans?
Trash Vortexes |
ARctic ocean |
Cold and warm water flows collide and form trash vortexes. These can be found in every ocean besides the Arctic, but the largest one, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (pictured above) is found in the northern Pacific ("Great Pacific").

Plastic in the Arctic Ocean moves differently than plastic in other oceans. There is no trash vortex in the Arctic Ocean, but instead trash and micro plastics have diffused evenly across the ocean (Meyer).
