A growing Problem
Over 88 million tons of trash is already in our oceans. 8 million items of trash are added every day. (Juniper)
Plastic takes hundreds of years to fully decompose. This means trash in the ocean is not going anywhere soon. |
Micro Plastics
Plastics take hundreds of years to decompose, and during the meantime they break down into micro plastics, which can be too small for the human eye to see.
|
Marine Life
Marine animals can get caught in larger pieces of plastic, or they can consume them and die. Furthermore, micro plastics are extremely dangerous to these animals who cannot see the tiny plastic filling their stomachs.
